FAQ
Do I Need Planning Permission For A Resin Driveway?
In most cases no. Permission is not normally required for a driveway of any size where the surface is permeable, or where rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to soak away naturally. A resin bound surface laid over a suitable porous base drains through itself, so it satisfies that on its own. We always check the drainage arrangement at the estimate stage rather than assume it.
What Is The Difference Between Resin Bound And Resin Bonded?
Resin bound means every stone is mixed through the resin and trowelled out to give a smooth, seamless, permeable surface. Resin bonded means loose stone is scattered onto a resin coated base, so it looks like a gravel finish, feels rough underfoot and is not permeable. We install resin bound for driveways, as it is the harder wearing and better draining of the two.
How Soon Can I Park On A New Resin Driveway?
You can normally walk on it after around six hours, and vehicles are usually fine after twenty four to forty eight hours. The exact time depends on the temperature and humidity on the day of installation, so we always give you a specific time before we leave rather than a general rule.
How Do I Maintain A Resin Bound Driveway?
Very little is needed. Brush it every so often to keep leaves and grit off the surface, and rinse it down occasionally. A pressure washer is fine on a wide fan at a sensible distance. Because there are no joints, weeds have nothing to root into from below, and anything that does appear has seeded in surface dirt and lifts away easily.
